Product Details
A sculptural centre table from the 1930s–1940s, executed in dark-stained oak.
This is a beautifully composed table with a strong architectural presence. The large circular top and lower circular shelf are held within a rhythmic framework of broad vertical supports. The legs are not simply legs, but shaped panels: rounded at the upper corners, stepped near the feet, and placed in such a way that the whole table has a very stable, grounded stance.
The form is sober but expressive. There is a clear modernist character in the round top and the shaped supports give it a distinctly Dutch Art Deco Amsterdam School style vibe. It is not a delicate little side table, but a proper centre table with presence: compact enough to fit easily into an interior, yet large and sculptural enough to anchor a seating area.
The dark-stained oak gives the piece depth and atmosphere. The woodgrain remains visible through the finish, adding a subtle texture across the top and lower shelf. In changing light, the surface moves between deep brown, warm chestnut and almost tones. It has an elegance that works especially well with more modern interiors.
The table would work very well as a centre table, coffee table or larger accent table.
A strong and elegant Dutch Art Deco table with a sculptural silhouette, warm dark oak surface and excellent decorative presence.
