A yellow stained plywood modernist side or accent chair with a cubist, architectural appearance. The designer was an architect who made a series of around 60 of these chairs, unfortunately his name is unknown. The design of the chair has been clearly inspired by the Dutch movement ''De Stijl'' with a hint of Frank Llyod Wright.
The piece has a well thought out construction and it very sturdy and stable. Seen from the side it seems to have been made out of a solid log of wood. Seen from the front and back, it turns out to be a surprisingly airy and light design. This chair would look great in a gallery space but could also be a statement piece to a bedroom or artistic space. It would for instance look great as a display for a collection of architectural books.
The chair is not only very sturdy but also quite heavy (around 10 kg). This piece is clearly made by a professional. It is in its original condition, with small signs of aging. A true conversation piece and asset for enthusiast of modernist design.
