A rare modernist wooden armchair, in oak and with coromandel wooden armrests and base. This chair was designed by P.E.L. Izeren (1886-1943), manufactured by ''The Genneper Molen'', ca. 1930. Style is The Hague School/Modernism. Designer Piet Izeren was greatly influenced by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wight, well known for his modernist style.
This piece breathes balance, harmony, proportion and scale. The more you look at it the more you come to love it. It's perfect in all its functional simplicity. Not too big, not too small. Effective and aesthetically pleasing. It has great patina and a beautiful wood grain. Construction is very sturdy. A true conversation piece and asset for art deco and modernism enthusiasts.
