Large and heavy blue Unica Vase by Willem Heesen (1925-2007), signed underneath. When you look close up through the glass it is like you're underwater. The large air bubbles give an airy feel and dynamic look to the piece.
Heesen was a glass virtuoso who studied in Leerdam, worked with Copier and was head designer for the famous Leerdam Glasfactory. In 1979 he left Leerdam to start his own studio 'De Oude Horn' in the Dutch town of Acquoi. Each piece is an unique hand made work of art. As is this piece. Heesens' work often has water or the waterside as a theme.
