A modestly sized sidetable or flowertable with a modernist design. Made from multiplex with oak surface.
This table is ideal to use as a display table for art or plants. It is 57 cm in height, the top and base 50 x 50 cm. It dates from around 1950 but could be an earlier piece. It must have been made by a furniture maker becasue of the perfect proportions and finishes. The style is called ''Haagse School'' (The Hague School), which stands for the luxurious and modern design style that manifested itself in 1920s The Hague, Netherlands. The Hague School is a variant of Dutch Art Deco. The style is recognizable by the straight and cubist shapes of the furniture that reflect the architecture of the time. The Hague School is often seen as a mix of Berlage's rationalism, the traditional Arts and Crafts Movement, the interiors of Frank Lloyd Wright, Rietveld and the avant-garde movement De Stijl.
The table is in good condition, with small signs of wear. The black parts of the tablelegs have (recently added) rubbers underneath which makes it pefectly stable. Pictures taken in natural light and in sunlight.
