Rare modernist coffee table from the 1920s with an architectural design, which gives the table various appearances depending on the angle it is viewed from. It's a perfect example of Dutch modernism. Material is oak and macassar ebony detail around the base. The style is reminiscent of designs by P.E.L Izeren for the Genneper Molen. It has no makers' stamps or marks. The style of the table can be classified as Modernist or The Hague School (Haagse School). Many Dutch modernists were influenced by American modernist architects like Frank LLoyd Wright.
The design of the base has an interesting asymmetrical division in several spaces, where books or magazines can be kept. The piece would also work as a bedside table. To illustrate how the table would work with other pieces in the same style, we've added some pictures with the modernist (Hendrik Wouda style) chair.
