A rare Dutch brutalist 1960s-70s plinth or pedestal with a bold, modernist design. We are currently investigating its designer. The design is reminiscent of the Bossche School (famous architects a.o. Dom Hans van der Laan & Jan de Jong)
It is quite heavy, made in solid (laquered)wood. No screws visible.
The pedestal is ideal to use as a display table for an art object as shown in some of the pictures (the cup and saucer are from the famous 1930s pressed graniver glass breakfast service by Berlage and Piet Zwart)
The piece is also suitable as an end table or occasional table. It stands very stable because of the weight and the design of the base. It is 55 cm in height, the top and base measure 28 x 28 cm. This piece is in very good condition, with small signs of wear. Pictures all taken in natural light and in sunlight.
