A small Dutch side table Amsterdam School, ca. 1930. Rare design. Originally this table was designed as a smokers' table and it comes with the original pewter top and accessories (an ashtray with a polar bear, a hammered candlestick and a cigar box). All pewter is stamped Gero. The designs of these decorative utilities are attributed to Georg Nilsson, who was head of design at Gero factory and is famous for his designs using animal figures. Similar tables are known to have been in pre war collection of the famous warehouse ''de Bijenkorf'' (located in Amsterdam and the Hague)
The table is made in stained beech, and has decorative macassar ebony decorations at the base. The table can be used with or without the pewter top, which makes it a versatile piece.
