Two tier coffee or side table with a modernist/geometric design from Dutch Art Deco era, ca. 1920. Designed by P.E.L. Izeren for De Genneper Molen. The style is called ''Haagse School'' (The Hague School), which stands for the luxurious and modern design style that manifested itself in 1920s The Hague, Netherlands. The Hague School is a variant of Art Deco. The style is recognizable by the straight and cubist shapes of the furniture that reflect the architecture of the time. The Hague School is often seen as a mix of Berlage's rationalism, the traditional Arts and Crafts Movement, the interiors of Frank Lloyd Wright, Rietveld and the avant-garde movement De Stijl. It's an eye catching design with all the macassar ebony decorative elements; the rectangular veneer element on top, around the edges of the two tabletops and at the bottom of the tablelegs. The table is in excellent condition, with only small signs of wear. Pictures all taken in natural light and in sunlight. None were taken in artificial light.
The piece is in excellent condition and measures 60 cm in height, with a top of 52 x 52 cm
