Product Details
A decorative and stylish pewter vase by Dutch manufacturer Daalderop, c. 1925. Signed underneath with the stamp from the 1920s. The piece is in good condition regarding it is a 100 years old. The decorations with the small solid balls and the cascading rings around the middle give it the characteristic Amsterdam School appearance. It has a lovely patina, some small hardly visible dents.
The Daalderop factory was founded in 1880 by J.N. Daalderop. SInce the early years they produced household items like tableware, pots and dishes, kettles, and gas lamps. The family business was under the undisputed leadership of Johan Daalderop (1883-1961). Until the Second World War their most important designer was Meine Huisenga. Klaas van Aken was also one of the designers.
It is known that the style of their products at some point started evolving towards that Art Deco and the Amsterdam School, but pieces with these kind of charactericts - decorative bullets - are rather scarce and sought after. The more common pieces with a less pronounced style are still commonly found in many Dutch households.
