A highly decorative Dutch Art Deco accent table with stepped details and a green marble top, designed in the expressive language of the Amsterdam School. A wonderfully distinctive piece, combining strong geometric form with rich materials and beautifully considered decorative detail.
The square green marble top, dramatically veined in lighter tones, forms a striking contrast with the dark-stained wooden construction below. The broad central column is richly articulated with linear carved details and stepped black-stained elements that descend rhythmically from beneath the tabletop. These cascading geometric accents give the table its unmistakable Amsterdam School character.
The column rises from a substantial square plinth base, its warm figured wood framed by raised moulded edges and further black accents around the foot of the column. Subtle curved cut-outs along the lower edge complete the design.
Despite its compact dimensions, the table has considerable presence. It would work beautifully as an elegant Dutch Art Deco accent table, beside a chair or sofa, but its proportions also make it particularly appealing as a low games table placed between two armchairs.
