Product Details
A refined Dutch Art Deco side table with strong Amsterdam School character, luxurious materials and a beautifully lively surface. Possibly manufactured by Fa. Drilling
The design is built around two circular tiers. The upper top has a strong rounded form with a deep apron. This creates a beautiful play between solidity and openness.
The top is veneered in richly figured mahogany, with a warm reddish-brown tone and a lively, linear woodgrain. In the light, the surface shifts beautifully between dark brown, auburn and coppery highlights.
One of the most striking details is found on the legs. Each support is accented with paired, rounded uprights in solid coromandel, ending in small domed tops. These double uprights add a graphic vertical rhythm to the otherwise rounded composition and create a beautiful contrast with the warmer mahogany surfaces. A deliberate detail, the sort of design choice that gives Amsterdam School furniture its slightly theatrical intelligence. A piece with good manners and a little dark Art Deco drama in its pocket.
