A very elegant Dutch Art Deco coffee table or side table, in red stained padouk and great details in the shape of a teardrop (characteristic for Amsterdam School designs) The table was made in the late 1920 or early 1930s, in the Netherlands.
The piece is in excellent condition and very well preserved. On the top is a very thin inlay of wood veneer, which comes across as a mosaic. The colours change depending on the angle of the viewer and the light. It's also very beautiful in artificial light.
The tables' design is similar to some designs that are known to have been sold at the famous Bijenkorf, a warehouse that used to have affiliates in the biggest cities (f.i. Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam) and one had to be rather affluent to be able to afford to shop there.
