Dutch Amsterdam School large ''Naga'' dragon snake lamp, 1920s
A wrought iron Amsterdam School base with four so called ''naga'' -dragon snakes. The Naga was a figure that was often used in the Amsterdam School era, by the influence of Indonesian culture and art. We are not 100% sure this was originally always a lamp (it may have been a candlestick first) but we bought it with a bakelite fitting and wiring from around the 40s/50s.
The lightfitting was too old so we rewired and put a new socket in. It now works with one lightbulb (E27) and is fitted with a standard European plug. The (vintage) lampshade depicted is included. This shade is obviously not the original one but from around the 90s. On the last picture there is an alternative lampshade which we can have custom made and include within the listed price.
