A large antique globe from the 1930s by Columbus Erdglobus (Germany, Berlin since early 1900s), and cartographers Dr. R Neuse and C. Luther.
I have verified with the manufacturer (who is still making globes) that this globe can't be later than 1939, because Thailand was still called Siam.
The globe sits on a modernist designed wooden base with a small working compass and a meridian circle of engraved and chromed nickel. The globe depicts territorial maps , ocean currents and the major trade routes of the period.
The height is 66 cm, diameter of the globe is 35 cm, the base is 20 x 20 cm. Small signs of wear and the colours of the globe have aged beautifully. The compass is a nice addition.
The map on the globe is German, the base is in Haagse School style, but probably German as well.
